About Limmud Europe
Limmud Europe
Limmud Europe is a pan-European network that connects, supports, and empowers Jewish learning communities across the continent. Rooted in the pioneering Limmud model, we bring together diverse Jewish voices in intergenerational, inclusive, and volunteer-driven spaces. By nurturing local Limmuds and encouraging cross-border collaboration, we enrich Jewish life for individuals and communities.
The Limmud Model
Limmud is a pioneering cross-communal, non-denominational and inter-generational Jewish learning model, organised and run almost entirely by volunteers. The first Limmud Conference was held in the UK in 1980 and pre-pandemic the UK Festival attracted over 2,500 attendees. The model has inspired dozens of Jewish communities worldwide to create their own Limmud events unified by a common set of values. Since 2006, Limmud has formally supported, developed and connected these grassroots, volunteer-led, cross-communal communities. It does this by providing them with training, mentoring and support for the sharing of ideas and best practices.
